Privacy policy

SpinRecipe keeps your recipes on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account. There is no SpinRecipe account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking across apps or websites.

What the app stores

For each recipe you save, SpinRecipe keeps the link you shared, the post's caption and picture, the name and tags it gives the dish, any ingredients and steps it finds, and anything you add yourself: notes, a rating, a meal time, and whether you want to cook it. It also keeps your grocery list and your meal times.

This is stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is on, it is also stored in your private iCloud database so it appears on your other devices. Apple holds that data under your Apple Account; we cannot see or read it.

When you share a post

To write up a recipe, SpinRecipe loads the post or page you shared, directly from the site it lives on, such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads or a recipe blog. That site receives an ordinary request from your iPhone, as it would if you opened the link.

Naming the dish, choosing its tags and reading out the ingredients happen on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence. Translating a title into English happens on your iPhone with Apple's Translation feature.

When Apple Intelligence isn't available

If your iPhone doesn't support Apple Intelligence, or it is switched off or still downloading, SpinRecipe can send the text of the caption to our server so it can be written up there. The server first checks that the text is about food, then uses a third-party AI service to pull out the dish name, ingredients and steps, and sends them back to your iPhone.

Only the caption text is sent. It is not linked to your name, Apple Account or contacts, and it is not used for advertising. To stop the service being misused, your iPhone proves to our server that it is running a genuine copy of SpinRecipe, using Apple's App Attest, and each device is limited in how often it can ask.

The TestFlight sign-up on this website

If you join the beta on this website, we keep the email address and optional first name you enter, to send you a TestFlight invite. They're stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the site, and a copy of each sign-up is emailed to us through Resend. We don't use them for anything else or share them. To be removed, email us from that address.

What the app never collects

• Your name, email address, phone number or contacts
• Your location
• Advertising identifiers or usage analytics
• Access to your photos, reminders or calendar

Deleting your data

Delete a recipe in the app and it is removed from your iPhone and your iCloud. Deleting the app removes what is stored on your iPhone. To remove the iCloud copy as well, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage, and delete SpinRecipe's data.

Children

SpinRecipe is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
